During the holiday seasons I always wish for more hours in the day. If I had the time, I would have loved to make a personal gift for everyone in my close family and friend’ circle. But since that isn’t the case, I try to add a handmade touch to my gifts with some specially made tags. These are easy, quick and most of all will give you the satisfaction that you made something.

If you like a clean and simple style, try using a white background for your tags. I cut my tags to measure 2.5 by 4 inches. I used a bright color palette using some blue to bring in a modern touch. For the “peace hope love” tag, I cut out a triangle notch first. I then punched out a tree using the new holiday squeeze punches, and layered a green piece of cardstock beneath it. Added another triangle to form a tree and the sentiment with foam squares- this adds some dimension to the tag.

For the “Joy” tag, I trimmed the blue cardstock to size, and used a corner punch on the bottom two corners. I then cut out a large triangle from a red patterned paper to form my tree, and a rectangle to make the tree’s base. Adhered them into place and stamped a sentiment. Topped the tree with a pearl.

For the next two tags, I used kraft cardstock as my base. Again, I used a 2.5 by 4 inch size. I added a ruffled lace to add dimension on the “to from” tag here.

For the “Season’s greeting” tag, I rounded the top corners, and added few strips of patterned paper, a punched tree and a sentiment.

If you like ribbons, these are the tags for you. Simply ruffle the ribbon and stitch onto place, add a stamped sentiment. I created a scallop detail at the bottom of these tags using a border punch as follows:

I placed the tag in the center of the border punch and punched once. If you need to, flip the handle of the border punch backwards to properly align your tag to the center.

To make the dimensional tree, I punched two trees using the holiday squeeze punch. Folded them in half, and adhered them next to each other. Added a gem on top of the tree.

To finish off all my tags, I used a 1/8 inch punch at the top of each tag. I then used some embroidery floss (twine would work well here too) and attached it with a looped knot as seen above.
