Whether your kids are heading to school for the first time, going to a new school, or just on their way to a new grade in the same school, new friends are a big part of the back-to-school experience. Make it easier for them to connect with new friends by creating these fun “business cards” to share with friends so the moms can easily contact one another to schedule play dates, car pooling, and other fun activities. Using patterned paper scraps, rolling rubber stamps and ink, and border punches, these cards are a fun end-of-summer project.
The Continuous Stamp™ Wheel is an easy way to add background patterns to solid paper or additional embellishment to patterned paper. I used it on Darby’s card to add an extra bit of brown vine to the faint existing gray design. I limited the stamping to the corners and edges so that the printed text would be easily read. I also used the Continuous Stamp™ Wheel on Cody’s card to add some fun circle designs to the green paper I punched for the tree canopy.

For the main designs, I used Lever Punches and Border Punches to create flowers, trees, grass, and sunshine. To create the sun, I printed the card information on patterned paper and punched it out with the XXX-Large Circle Lever Punch. Cutting the circle so that about two-thirds of it would be the sun and the remaining one-third would be cut to create the sun’s rays.

To add even more fun flair, I added some self-adhesive rhinestones to the flower centers and some machine stitching. There’s so much you could do here, depending on how many you want to make and how big your pile of scraps is!

Instructions

1. Print name, phone number, and other information onto cardstock-weight patterned paper.

2. Cut card base to 4 inches wide by 4 inches tall. Decorate with Continuous Stamp™ Wheel, punches, and machine stitching.
