Finding time to make handmade cards can be a challenge as we approach the holiday season but these 3 card designs can be put together in 10 minutes or less. They’re simple yet still have a touch of creativity with paper piecing using some of the new Squeeze Punches as well as stamping with Fiskars’ seasonal Simple Stick Repositionable Rubber Stamps.
Instructions:
Paper Pieced Christmas Tree Card:
Start by creating a 5 inch by 7 inch card from cardstock and pattern paper. Cut a smaller piece of pattern paper to fit inside this. Border Punch a Kaleidoscope strip and adhere it under the left side of the red pattern paper. Cut 2 circles (3.5 inch and 4 inch), layer and trim the outer circle with Scallop Paper Edgers.
Next, paper piece the Christmas Tree from the Cloud Squeeze Punches. The new Medium Cloud Squeeze Punch was just what I needed to top off this layered Christmas tree. Simply punch 5 or 6 cloud shapes and stack them on the circle. Add a small square of brown cardstock at the bottom for the trunk.
Add a Squeeze Punched star to the top with adhesive foam to complete the tree accent. Stamp the sentiment/greeting onto light colored pattern paper/cardstock and trim with scissors, then adhere to the bottom of the card with adhesive foam.
Stamped Penguin Card:
Stamp the card background with Simple Stick snowflake stamps using white opaque ink and let dry. In the meantime, stamp the penguin and sentiment/greeting onto light colored pattern paper. Add any additional coloring to the designs with markers of colored pencils. Use the Round ‘n Round Squeeze Punches to punch the designs out.
Cut a Double Bubble Border Punched strip and a striped strip of paper, then adhere them across the center of the card. Cut another circle 2.5 inches from red and adhere the penguin circle to this. Trim with Scallop Paper Edgers and use the 1.16 Hole Punc on each curved scallop. Attach adhesive foam tape to the back and adhere it to the card.
Use the Everwhere Punch Window System with the Framed Punch to create the shape framing the sentiment. Normally, I would discard this piece since it has holes in it but the Large Round ‘n Round circle Squeeze Punch (punched greeting circle) is the perfect size to cover up the holes. Adhere this to the left side bottom of the card to complete.
Holiday Swag Card:
Color block the last card with two wide strips of pattern paper and divide them with a narrow strip of paper adhered between them, as shown. Squeeze Punch a 1.5 inch circle, an Extra Large scalloped circle (Seal of Approval) and a Large heart Squeeze Punch (Amore) to create the center of the swag. Then Squeeze Punch several (6-8) Oakey Dokey leaves from green pattern paper for the branches.
Arrange and adhere the leaves as a “spray” or “swag” near the top left of the card. Stamp the sentiment/greeting onto light colored pattern paper, trim and adhere to bottom right to complete the card.
