It's time again for a new set of Limited Edition Squeeze Punches!
Card Set
Each card features one of the new summer designs embellished with a little extra detail. These punches look great plain or all dressed up! The cards are all the same design based around a frame from the Bracket and Journal shape template with a punch and sentiment. Let's play...
This Best Fishes card features the 'Something's Fishy' punch. The extra bubbles it includes are definitely a fun touch! Here I added a layer of ultra-fine, transparent, crystal glitter to each.
The googly eyes give the fish instant personality. Adding scales is easy by embossing the cardstock with "Scales" texture plate before punching. The Boundary Waters border punch adds interest to the water.
I just love this little guy. The 'Hoppy for You' punch is definitely fun to play with. By punching two frogs in different colors and chopping the legs and head from the lighter to layer onto the darker, he not only has more detail but a cute smile when traced above. Before adhering down, add in a twirling tongue for fun! By layering punched one-quarter inch circles using the circle hand punch, his personality is complete.
The 'Leaf it to Me' punch can build a palm tree quickly! By punching several and cutting a few in rounded halves for the sides, all you need is a hand-cut trunk and coconuts punched from the circle pop-up punch.
The 'Humming Along' punch is beautiful and offers a refreshing change from the usual bird embellishments seen. I love to pair him with a handmade or punched flower. Here I punched an XL circle, cut a spiral, and wound it around a toothpick before adding a glue dot at the center to anchor. Punch an extra brown hummingbird, cut off the beak from the original, and layer together. To keep him more sophisticated, I opted for a simple pen-dotted eye.
Photo Pennant Banner
Banners are definitely a hot trend in the crafting world. It's hard not to like them, so festive and happy! I decided to make a fun summer banner to show off some of my favorite summer photos. This banner shows how these new punches are super cute just as they are with a fun, graphic punch of summer!
To make it easy on myself, I came up with a stress-free way to cut all of the pennants. After deciding my pennants would be 4 inches wide by 5 inches tall to accommodate standard sized photos, I cropped a stack of patterned papers to those dimensions. Using the ruler guides on my trimmer, I marked the center (2 inches) of each and then aligned that center mark and the top corner of my rectangle with my cutting line. Chop once then repeat with the other side. No tracing or cutting. Quick and easy!
To crop my photos, I traced one of my pennants onto scrap paper and cut out with retractable craft knife. I used this as a template to place over each photo to decide the best place to crop. Once I was happy, I marked each of the three corners and aligned with cutting line as above. Punch the two top corners of each pennant with the one sixteenth inch circle hand punch and thread through all with white string.
Punch a couple of each of the new summer punches to add to the patterned paper pennants. Punch several strips of vintage book paper with the Scalloped Sentiment border punch and adhere to the top of each pennant to cover holes and string. Tie on twine bows between each pennant and you're done!
