Except this isn’t your ordinary box of stationery. Instead, it’s a build-it-yourself stationery kit filled with everything needed for the teacher to combine parts and pieces as she sees fit.
Putting together a kit like this is rather simple and just requires a little bit of prep work using tools you have on hand. If you don’t have the exact die-cut shapes that I’ve used here, consider substituting for tools you do have on hand.
First thing you’ll need to do is cut several sheets of cardstock to 10” x 7” and fold in half to make a 5” x 7” card base. Then, cut several pieces of coordinating double-sided patterned paper to 2 ½” x 12”. Cut these strips at 7” leaving you with both a 7” piece and a 5” piece from each of patterned paper.
Next you’ll want to use your punches and Fuse Creativity System® to create some custom embellishments to be packaged up in your stationery kit. Adding adhesive-backed rhinestones, glitter, and brads will help bring your die-cuts to life!
Using the Fuse Creativity System®, along with the Keeping Tabs Mini Design Set, I die-cut journaling tabs from several lighter, yet coordinating shades of cardstock. Next, I stamped a variety of sentiments onto the tabs to place in the kit.
Cut 10 strips of white cardstock to 1” x 12”. Use these to create a variety of border punched strips to pretty up the edges of the patterned paper strips. You can do this quickly using the Interchangeable Border Punch Starter Set along with a variety of Interchangeable Cartridges. I’ve used Up In The Clouds, Threading Water, Lacy Doubles, Banners Away, and Celebrate. Cut each of the punched 12” strips down to 7” which will also leave 5” strips remaining.
Now that you have all the parts and pieces made for your card kit, you can package them into cute little glassine bags, fold over the tops and use your 1/8” circle hand punch to punch two holes to thread baker’s twine through to add a loopy bow and pretty up the packaging a bit.
The cards, envelopes and glassine bags can then be packaged up in a recycled greeting card box that’s been given a makeover for gift-giving. If you don’t have a box to upcycle, you can find plenty of templates online with a quick Google search.
Be sure to include a quick note or idea sheet showing the recipient how to assemble cards using your kit. It’s also helpful if you include some sort of adhesive such as a tape runner or glue dots. If you want to go the extra mile, you can even include a pretty writing pen and a sheet of stamps.
