Picture This Romantic Card

This card could easily go from valentine to proposal to romantic ‘any occasion’, and that is what I love about it! I had so much fun playing with my new Fiskars ShapeTemplate™ system I couldn’t stop cutting out layers!

The papers are all coordinated, which is the key to making this design work. I used a vintage button with the shank removed, but you could add any dimensional element you like.

Picture This Inside Fiskars
  1. Cut a 5 ¾”x 11” piece of patterned paper for base card using the paper trimmer.
  2. Before folding, use lacy doubles punch to add a decorative edge to one 5 ¾” side of the cardstock. Start in center and work to both sides. To make it consistent and clean, you may have to go back to the paper trimmer and trim the edges.
  3. Fold card leaving the edge ½” longer than the back half of card. Score using paper trimmer with scoring blade.
  4. Cut out two 3”x3” squares using the ShapeTemplate™, mat and cutting tool and two coordinated patterned scrapbook papers. Cut a 2”x2” window in the center of one square to create a frame. Cut a 3.5”x3.5” square using a more solid color coordinated scrapbook paper.
  5. Use the heart template to cut a 1” and 2” heart out of coordinating patterned papers and a 1 ¼” heart out of the dark pink cardstock.
  6. Print the words “picture this” and the words “you+me=happily ever after” in a clean and easy to read font. I used dark pink Abbess 24pt. for the front and green Palatino Linotype in 24 pt. for the inside.
  7. Cut out words using paper trimmer leaving a small border. Layer picture this on top of a dark pink cardstock frame that is slightly larger. You can cut this frame on your paper trimmer.
  8. To make the inside of the card, cut out two frames out of coordinating papers using the ShapeTemplate™ system and the bracket and journal shapes.
  9. Layer these and adhere to inside of card using Aleene’s tacky tape runner. Add sentiment to center.
  10. Layer the square frames on the front of card in center. Add layered hearts with dimensional embellishment to the right bottom corner. Layer text and frame and adhere to the left bottom edge of picture frame on card.
