Fun and easy ways to bring a touch of spring to your gifts and home.
While recently browsing Pinterest for wedding reception ideas, I found burlap covered paper paper mache monogram letters. I decided to use the word LOVE in lieu of a monogram and used the Fuse to help me create a simple, yet elegant, bunting to drape across the front of my centerpiece.
To begin, I brushed a rough coat of antique white acrylic paint over the letters. Once dry, I followed up with a second rough coat. The idea was to create a distressed paint look so some areas of the original surface are still visible through the layers of paint.
Next I used Mod Podge to adhere antique white burlap to the letters. When the Mod Podge was dry, I used a pair of Fiskars scissors to cut the burlap down to the edges of the letters. I then added a couple of coats of antique white paint over the burlap.
When it was time to create my bunting, I decided to add some texture to the stamped impression by using a technique called kissing. Using a letterpressing plate, I first ran a piece of burlap through the machine with it. This left the impression of the burlap texture behind on the plate. I then, without re-inking, ran it through the Fuse again with a piece of cardstock.
The burlap texture impressed onto my cardstock! I completed the diecut by stamping it with silver ink and a stamp from the Fiskars Just Married Clear Stamp Set.
After adding the die cut with some tiny clothespins to a length of twine, I finished the bunting by adding some punched triangles made using the punch.
This is a versatile centerpiece that can be created to use on each of the guests' tables, or as a stand-alone centerpiece for the gift table or wedding cake table.
