Dress Up Your Tailgate Party

Tailgating season is here again! Wouldn’t it be fun to add a creative touch to your tailgate festivities this year?

Here are four simple project ideas that will add a bit of pizzazz to your party.

Use the Fiskars Twinkle Twinkle Extra Large Squeeze Punch punch to create embellished picks for sandwiches and burgers.

1. Simply cut a wooden skewer to size and affix a punched star to the top. Add letters on top of the stars to spell your favorite team’s name or other phrase.

2. Next, pile brownies and cookies high on a pedestal stand and embellish with an easy pennant and star banner.

3. Hand cut pennants from patterned paper with the Fiskars Micro-Tip Scissors No. 5.

4. Punch a cardstock border with the Fiskars scalloped sentiment border punch and cut to the width to size with the SureCut Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer (12”).

5. Affix the border strip to the top of the pennant and trim the edges flush with the edges of the pennant using the Fiskars Micro-Tip Scissors No. 5.

6. Using the Fiskars Hand punch (1/8”), punch two holes in along the top edge of each pennant. String the pennants on a piece of fiber and attach each end to a wooden skewer.

7. Add stars punched with the Fiskars Twinkle Twinkle Extra Large Squeeze Punch to each end of the banner. You can do so by using two punched stars and affixing them to the banner with a double-sided foam adhesive square between the stars and the piece of fiber.

Cup tip: Embellish and keep track of cups at your party by adding punched stars and pennants to be used as nametags. Using the methods described above, create additional pennants and stars. Punch a hole in the top edge of a plastic cup with the Fiskars Hand punch (1/8”) and tie on a pennant and/or stars with fiber. Let each guest write his or her name on the pennant.

Pom-pom Table Décor

1. Use pieces of felt to create pom-poms. Cut one piece of felt into quarters with Fiskars craft scissors (8”).

2. Cut vertical strips from each side, running in toward the center. Leave an uncut strip of felt in the center where the cuts meet.

3. Tie the felt bundle in the middle with string and then pull the cut edges apart to create a full pom-pom.
