Plant Gift Set

I love giving gifts that last. Flowers are pretty, but often wither and die. Plants can be good, as long as you give the right one – those, in the wrong hands (like mine) can also result in a sad, droopy looking gift after a few weeks.

I have learned that succulents, like this little cactus, are almost impossible to harm and are a long-lasting gift for someone.

Now, being the person I am, I am not satisfied just handing a plant to someone, so when I saw this set, I knew it would be perfect for a little plant gift and got right to work!

First, I inked all of my letterpress plates and then ran one whole 12x12 sheet of cardstock through the Fuse and had all of my pieces in one quick pass through the machine. I pulled them out and put the box together with some adhesive.

Next I grabbed a few big punches, some pretty patterned paper, and began to put together the last few elements of my project. I cut some cardstock to 8 ½ x 5 ½ and folded it in half. I added a strip of patterned paper to the top, inked the edges, added a punched scallop circle, and a title to my card.

Next I added one of my letterpressed embellishment, a piece of trim, and a flower and my card was complete.

I decided that a little stick in with the plant would add another bit of fun and flair to the set, so I punched out another scallop circle, this one a bit smaller, and added another letterpressed piece to it.

I took a grilling skewer and cut it to the length I wanted. Then I added my little sentiment and another piece of trim to tie it all together.

Once all of these pieces were built, I put the plant into the box, added the skewer stick, and grabbed my card. Now all I have to do is deliver it to a very nice neighbor that watered our plants when we were gone for a couple of days.
