This year’s renewed passion for everyday memory keeping has everyone trying out divided page protectors with smaller slots. It can be a challenge to adjust your thinking from 12x12 to 4x4 or 3x4, but it’s totally do-able! You may find that with a smaller canvas, you have the opportunity to make an even bigger impact! Read on for tips on using this smaller space in your scrapbooking…
Use border punches for instant impact.Jazz up those journaling cards with a fun border punch! Even if you decide to only punch one side of your card, you’ll be creating a different look. Don’t worry about the card behind – a little variety is a good thing!
Scale down your shapes. In full size scrapbooking, I love adding punched shapes as simple embellishments. In scaled down scrapbooking, I simply reach for smaller punches. I am currently in love with the Jenni Bowlin Limited Edition squeeze punches. That being said, my go-to, can’t-live-without punch is the medium That’s Amore squeeze punch. It’s perfect for adding a bit of love to my project.
Add detail with corner punches. Check out Fiskars 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 corner punches to add a bit of interest without overpowering your mini-layouts. The 4-in-1 punches offer the extra detail of embossing. Whether you decide to punch 1, 2, or 4 corners, you’ll be adding a little special touch.
Create focus with one larger element. Let’s face it; sometimes it’s hard to fill up all of those pockets! Create a focal point with one punched design and a few journaling strips. You’ll create a design element with little effort!
Use these fun tips to keep your mini-scrapping projects interesting. I know that for me, the only way to keep up for 52 weeks is to keep changing things up!
