I wanted to create a Christmas photo display of our children that represented each year that we’ve been in our current home. I thought that putting these photos side by side on a banner would be a great way to show how much they’ve grown in the last five years. Let me show you how easy it is to create this banner that will be a memorable décor accent for your home this season.
Instructions:
Print photos or use extra prints that you may have left over from Christmas/holiday cards. With a trimmer, crop photos to about 3 inches or 4 inches square, if possible. Cut a matte from dark pattern paper to frame the photo. Use the corner round on the top corners of both the photo and the matte.
Create “flags” from light colored pattern paper – 5 inches wide by 8.5 inches tall. Use the trimmer’s scoring blade to score the top 1 inch across the flag. This will be where the flag attaches to ribbon. Shape the bottom of each flag by cutting out a triangle wedge with scissors.
Create a decorative border for the bottom of the photo by using the Double Bubble Border and trimming a narrow strip of striped pattern paper. Adhere these to just below the photo. Then create a scalloped tab with the Large Round ‘n Round and the Seal of Approval Squeeze Punches. Use number stickers or stamps to record the photo year.
Create more “flag” shapes that will be placed between photos by cutting 3 inch ovals from the Oval Shape Template using the Ultra ShapeXpress Tool.
Score the top inch of each oval and set aside. To create the rosettes, cut 1 inch by 12 inch strips of pattern paper and score every .25 inch across using the scoring blade on the trimmer. Accordion fold the strips and adhere 1 inch Squeeze Punched circles to the center (front and back) of each rosette. These small circles will help secure the rosettes from coming undone. Use the Jingle All the Way Lever Punch to create a bell from red pattern paper. Use the Large Round ‘n Round Squeeze Punch to punch around the negative of the bell. Adhere this to another 1.5 inch circle punched from gold pattern paper. Apply an adhesive square to the back of each bell circle and adhere to the front of each rosette.
Use a strong adhesive to apply the flags and rosette ovals to a ribbon – the length will depend on the number of photos and flag sizes you create. Use the 1/16 Circle Hand Punch to punch holes in the ribbon to attach brads, as shown.
Use adhesive foam to attach stickers or other embellishment accents.
Hang the banner across a mantel or along a stair rail.
