They have quickly become a popular way to organize and display information – especially information that is statistical in nature. It’s a great way to capture information – a little or a lot – on a layout.
The key to an infographic layout is simplicity. Clean designs make your information and photos really stand out. Strive for an uncluttered background, and then add information in segments. To get the creative juices flowing, ask yourself questions that can be answered with a number. How many towns has your child lived in? How many schools have they attended? How many siblings do they have? Once you’ve identified several bits of info, you’re ready to put together your layout!
1. Trim a piece of patterned paper to 10.5" x 10.5". Round your corners and adhere to solid cardstock.
2. Determine how many blocks of information and photos you will have. Create mats for these sections using patterned paper. Again, round corners and adhere.
3. I wanted to highlight my daughter’s age, so I started with an “18 years of awesome” block. I created a banner and adhered with foam dots. I added the number with foam letters, and then printed a strip of journaling.
4. Infographics are a great way to capture details with numbers! I added a few facts about my daughter, and used simple punched shapes to add focus.
5. I added a printed journaling card to help ground the layout, and draw attention to the graduation photo. A few simple embellishments, and done! (Tip: adhere punched circles with foam dots to mimic the effect of brads.)
What details can you capture about your graduate?
