It's an awesome feeling to look at a pretty gift package when you're finished with it and know that, when the layers are peeled back, there sits something quite ordinary that was once considered to be waste.
Using the Fiskars 45mm Rotary Cutter, an acrylic ruler, and a cutting mat, cut a length of fabric that is 1 inch wider than the circumference of the can and 1 inch taller than the height of the can. Fold the top and bottom edges of the fabric over 1/2 inch and iron them to crease.
With the fabric, hemmed sides facing out, folded so the short ends are together, stitch a 1/2 inch seam allowance.
Turn the fabric tube right-side out and slip it over the can to assure a snug fit. Restitch the seam, if needed, to make it more snug.
Create a gift tag using the Fuse Creativity System™. Use a hand punch to punch a hole in each side of the tag and run a length of twine or ribbon cut 8 inches longer than the circumference of the can through the holes, knotting the ends so it fits snugly around the can. Handstitch a recipient name onto a small scrap of fabric, or create one on the computer and print it off, and attach it to the tag.
Hand cut a variety of triangles and flags, lay them over a length of twine or ribbon cut 8 inches longer than the circumference of the can, fold the top edges of the flags over, and stitch them so the twine is enclosed in the hem. Tie the banner around the can so it fits snugly.
Using the Super Sized Circle Template that most closely fits the lid of your can, cut a circle of patterned paper. Punch a circle using the Extra Large Round-n-Round Squeeze Punch and a star using the Extra Large Twinkle-Twinkle Squeeze Punch and adhere them to the center of the patterned paper circle.
Recycled peanut (or other) can
