Mixed Media Ideas #10 Coasters

Bring the colors of fall to your table with these mixed media coasters!

I began by die cutting some thick chipboard using the Fuse Creativity System® and the Square Medium Design Set.  I actually cut all six of the squares all at once, the Fuse is capable of doing that easily.

I added rubber cement and sandwiched two chipboard squares together. Any adhesive would work here, but I chose rubber cement because it dries quickly.

I next added some inks and blended the colors on the coaster. I went with some typical fall hues - ochres and browns.

To stamp the background text, I used this stamp that has been designed to use with the Continuous Stamp Wheel. I simply mounted the stamp onto my stamp press instead and used it as a background stamp instead. This is a nice way to stretch your stamps.

Now comes the fun decorating part. I printed some fall photos to use but you could cut out images from magazines to use here too. I added an image, some burlap, a chipboard button and twine to each coaster. I also added some punched leaves using the Intricate Shape Punches.

The final step is to add multiple coats of mod podge onto the top surface of these coasters. It pays to be patient here and add multiple thin coats rather than one thick coat of mod podge.

Use these yourselves or add a pretty ribbon, tie them up and give them as a gift!
