4 boxes of pencils

1 box of markers (8 pack)

8 bottles of glue

12 glue sticks

2 wooden rulers

rubber bands

The base of the cake is 3 boxes of tissues stacked together. Using rubber bands, wrap the folders around the Kleenex boxes. Place the crayons at the bottom and secure with a rubber band. Add the boxes of pencils on top of the crayons and attach with a rubber band. In between the pencils, you will place 2 markers at each corner of the base as shown in the photo.

Place the bottles of glue on top of the pencils. Cover the top of the base with coordinating paper. Add a dozen (or more) glue sticks to the top of the base, securing the glue sticks with a rubber band. Slide the rulers into the corners so they are under the rubber band that is securing the pencils.

Now for the fun part: decorating your cake! You can use coordinating cardstock and patterned paper to cover the rubber bands that are used to hold the supplies in place.  Using the chalkboard paper was a fun addition to keeping with the school theme.

To add the banner to the rulers, punch the banner out of cardstock and attach your sentiment with chalk (as shown) or possibly with alphabet stickers.
