With a few discarded mailing tubes, construction paper, and Fiskars Squeeze Punches you can craft these characters in under 20 minutes.
It’s usually the quote itself that inspires the design and tools I use. In this case, I wanted a strong representation of the subject matter: butterflies.
I was able create that strong representation by using the Fuse Creativity Systme® to create a butterfly embellishment all in one pass, then reinforcing the overall butterfly theme in my design by using additional punched butterflies with the help of the pop-up butterfly punch.
To create a similar piece, you’ll need to a few simple supplies. Just gather a frame, a favorite piece of cardstock-weight patterned paper, coordinating cardstock, alphabet stickers, ink, small brads/eyelets, dimensional foam adhesive, and your Fiskars tools.
First you’ll need to choose the ink and cardstock you’ll be using to cut your embellishment. For this design you’ll need to cut two of the same so they can be layered one on top of the other with dimensional adhesive.
To do so, add glue dots to the body of the butterfly and adhere directly over top the other. Then, place a small piece of dimensional foam adhesive under each wing, close to the body so the wings flap freely.
Then use your sew taxi to measure the opening of your frame from the back and using your favorite Fiskars trimmer, cut your solid cardstock to the dimensions of the frame opening. Cut your patterned paper to ½” smaller on both height and width. Adhere to cardstock, centered.Add quote using alphabet stickers by starting with the most prominent word first, and then build the phrase around that word.
Punch several tiny butterflies using the pop-up punch. Fold a few in half to give them some dimension.
Embellish the patterned paper with your dimensional butterfly widget, mini brads, eyelets and tiny butterflies. Adhere only one wing of the folded tiny butterflies to give your frame décor more depth.
Frame and hang!
