Cardstock, Craft Tools, Cutting, Glue, How-To-Projects, Ink, Paint, Papers, Patterned Paper, Stamping,
Making paper dolls is a fun and easy and guaranteed to keep a variety of ages busy for hours. It’s a great way to use up those little bits and pieces of paper you’ve been saving, so it’s an economical craft too!
Pull out all your favorite Fiskars® scissors, punches, stamps and tools and be creative. We’ve provided the templates for a doll and two dresses, but I encourage you to alter those, experiment, and really just run with it.
Instructions:
Begin by downloading the PDFs for the dress templates and doll and print them out on a nice thick cardstock.
Carefully cut out the dress templates and doll using a pair of Fiskars scissors or a crafting knife and mat. Cut on the outside of black line. The dotted lines are fold lines, so be sure not to cut there.
Select a piece of paper for your dress, place your template on the paper and trace around it with a pencil. Cut out your dress, and erase any pencil lines left behind.
Now it’s time to trim the dress. Grab a few punches and Paper Edger scissors and have some fun! The possibilities are endless!
This large Scalloped Circle Punch makes great scalloped sleeves.
The Threading Water Border Punch adds a nice detail to the dress hem.
A scalloped circle punched from the center of a large circle makes a great decorative buckle.
Use your Paper Edgers to make frilly hemlines, cuffs or necklines.
Play with color, texture and pattern and create a dress for any occasion. The XL Cloud Squeeze punch makes excellent puffy sleeves. Just attach them by using a glue stick.
The cherry from the Sweet Life Simple Stick stamps makes a great pattern on a summer dress.
Don’t forget the accessories! Try using the Sweet Life Simple Stick stamps to make some treats for your doll. Just stick the stamps to a block, ink and stamp onto cardstock. Cut out the treats using your Micro-Tip scissors.
Once you’ve created your wardrobe, it’s time to dress your doll.
Give her a smiling expression with a marker or colored pencil. Create a hairstyle for her out of a textured paper or yarn.
Fold the shoulder tabs on the dotted lines, and hang your dress on the doll.
A tiny piece of double-stick tape will hold your accessories in place.
Lastly fold the doll base on the dotted lines so she can stand upright.
Of course she needs friends, so make a few more dolls and experiment some more!
