E-reader Sewn Cover

I bought myself a little present for my birthday this year - a new Nook Color e-reader. While I will always love my 'actual' books, I predict that this nifty little gadget will prompt me to read even more. Since fancy new e-readers deserve a little protection, I stitched this simple cover to keep my Nook safe and sound.

1. For this project , you’ll need approx ½ yard of fabric + batting + thread

2. Cut 4 pieces of fabric - 2 that are approximately 2 inches longer than your e-reader, and 2 that are approximately 6 inches longer.

3. Ensure that you have enough room on each side for seam allowance (0.5 inch - 1 inch)

4. For each layer of your cover, alternate fabric and batting. Stitch with right sides facing so that you can turn right-side out after stitching. (from the bottom up, your layers would be batting, fabric right side up, fabric right side down)

5. Stitch the front and back sections together, with the longer rectangle on the back. This will allow you to fold this portion over – you can secure with a Velcro strip.

6. Hand stitch buttons or other embellishments to the front.
