Spring Fabric Accessories

Spring is the perfect time to add a little color to your wardrobe. I’m a huge fan of scarves, not only are they cute, but they still keep the spring chill away!

I especially love the new 'infinity' scarves. These long loops of fabric are great for wrapping around multiple times to create a fun casual look. I was such a fan of this fabric that I decided to create a bracelet to match.

Infinity scarves are super easy to make - they don’t even require a pattern! First, decide how long you’d like your scarf to be. I sized mine to be approximately 60 inches long, so I purchase just over a yard of fabric. (tip: just ask the fabric counter to cut your fabric to 60 inches long - it will save you a step!) I used my Fiskars quilting ruler to measure the width to approximately 26 inches. I then cut 4 rectangles of fabric - each 60 inch x 26 inch. I sewed the ends together, then folded in half vertically to make a long tube of fabric. Another easy hem, then I stitched the ends together to form a loop. Like the crinkled look? Wet your scarf, then twist and tie as tight as you can. Let dry, then untwist and you’ll have a great crinkled look!

Covered wooden beads are quick and easy to make, and let you coordinate perfectly with your scarf! Use your favorite Fiskars scissors to cut a rectangle of fabric long enough to wrap around a bead. Cover the fabric in glue, then roll around bead. Carefully tuck the ends into the hole in the bead (tip: the Fiskars embossing tool is handy to help tuck the fabric in!). Let the beads dry, then string onto ribbon. Viola!
