Making them is very simple and requires only a minimal amount of basic sewing skills. Once you have given them a go, you’ll want to make more.
Lay out each sock flat on the cutting mat and using your Fiskars Titanium Comfort Loop Rotary Cutter and Fiskars Acrylic Ruler cut off the toes of the socks. Next, cut just below the heel leaving you with a rectangle of fabric. Finally cut off the heel at the bottom of the leg.
Discard the toe and heel parts of the sock. Take the remaining rectangle piece and fold one half inside the other so that it forms a cuff.
Pin this cuff to the bottom edge of the sock with the raw edges matching. Your cuff should be on the outside with the sock slipped inside.
Using your sewing machine, stitch the cuff to the bottom of the sock. Though not necessary, consider finishing the seam with a zig zag stitch or serge to neaten the seam. Repeat the process for the second sock.
You can find a huge assortment of women’s knee high sock in the stores and online but this project can also be a great way to put some life back into an old pair of long socks.
