If the plastic adjustment knob were made of metal, I'd give these shears five stars, but as with any product, if there's a moving part that's made of plastic, you can look for that part to tear up, pretty soon. But for $20, especially in this throwaway world we live in now, as long as the landfills can hold all the junk everybody is having to throw away, these shears are perfect. They're sharp, they're lightweight, and as long as you haven't let your shrubs grow all the way up to the roof of the house, these shears work great for shaping them back up. They're like a big pair of scissors, and they cut cleanly, just like the sticker on the handle says. In all fairness about that plastic knob, I should add that Fiskars appears to have made an improvement on that. The last pair had a knob that turned freely, which meant that I had to constantly stop and tighten it, until it finally wore out and came off in my hand. But the new pair I just bought now has a mechanism that's made of metal built into the bottom of that knob, and it clicks when you turn it. I'm hoping this means that it's locked in place at the tightness I set it at, since this means I won't have to keep turning it until I tear it up.
The shears cut great and I really liked then until the plastic stop broke. I am hoping the lifetime warranty will work and they will be replaced.
