I'd like to add this to my earlier review. Regarding those who said there were no instructions regarding use & maintenance, the cardboard piece in the packaging had all the information I needed. The picture of the pruner head shows how the rope is routed (though I would not have needed it due to what I was taught regarding the simple machine, the pulley, in elementary and high school physics). I don't know if this information was in the packaging on the units the earlier reviewers bought. If it wasn't, I'd like to commend Fiskars for adding it.
I bought this yesterday when I saw it at Home Depot. My wife had been trimming an olive tree with our old polesaw but it was hard going. She had done what she could reach and I was trying to figure out how I could SAFELY get up there and finish the job with my 14" chainsaw. I brought it home and the hardest part was getting the blister packaging opened. I extended the pole and started cutting. 2 - 3 minutes later the branch came down! Later it took a little over 5 minutes to get the other branch, but that included moving the ladder. Oh, the saw blade was given the mandatory blood sacrifice before first use when I happened to brush a finger on a saw tooth. Perhaps a protective tube could be put on the saw blade teeth for safety when not in actual use? I'm going to see if Fiskars sells a blade sheath; if not, I'll make one out of automotive fuel line.
There are no instructions, there is not a parts-list. I don't even think there is a title on the package for the product. I had to find the proper web site, and search their entire catalog of tools until I found it. The company is closed on week-ends. But, at least their tool does cut very well. I dropped several large bushy limbs before the pot-metal frame that holds the saw (which cuts superbly) onto the plastic pole broke off. But, for several minutes there was cutting limbs like crazy. Next time use steel.
I just got this toady. It came with no instruction. So I did the bet I could and the saw part got stuck in the tree, It's going back to the store
I had the same issue as Richard. No decent pics or steps to restring anywhere. Shouldn't be too difficult I guess but c'mon guys, better engineering would help.
Worked fine. Pruned 3 medium sized trees. Then the the cord came off the pulley system on the pruning head. Could find no restringing instruction on the packaging or on the Fiskar website. I guess i will return it to the retailer as it is still under guarantee.
