Our versatile, rope-free tree pruner extends up to 12' to take down high branches without a ladder or make low cuts without kneeling or bending.

Our Pruning Stik® Tree Pruner makes it easy to cut high or low with a level of control traditional pruners with exterior ropes can’t match. A long, lightweight pole lets you cut high branches without the hassles and dangers of using a ladder, make low cuts without sore knees from kneeling or back strain from bending and easily reach into dense, prickly shrubs or tight spots. For the reach you need to cut your highest branches, the pole extends all the way to 12' and locks securely. The rope-free design means you can use both hands to maximize your power and accuracy, and an easy-to-grip sliding handle makes the pruning action smooth and simple. An actuating ball at the end of the pole lets you reach even farther and still prune with precision, an included 15" saw blade makes it easy to take down thicker branches, and the cutting head rotates up to 230º to let you prune and saw at tough angles. The fully hardened, precision-ground blade stays sharp, and a low-friction, rust-resistant coating makes every cut easier.

After owning the 5' pruning stick and liking it very much I decided to buy the 12' version. The first day I used it it cut flawlessly I was cutting our pin oaks and the branches varied between 1/2" to 1" anything bigger I cut with the included pruning saw. The next day started on the other trees in the yard. The pruner would not cut a 5/8" branch it would not close then it wouldn't open the head is all bound up. The black cord in the adjustable head is showing its inside cordage and is twisted. Submitted to warranty today. Let the fun begin!

Like many of these reviews when I got this in April it worked like a charm. Cleaned the jaws and lightly oiled them and hung it in the garage. Apples are starting to form and I wanted to trim some of the smaller branches that may break off from over weight as they grow. First branch would not come off, blades would not close, but then they wouldn't open either. Got it unhooked and tried to work the jaws and they just would not work. Went to the shop and got the instructions and restrung the cord, but it had ruptures in the netting and white cord was showing in 3 places. I stretched out the cord and worked the ruptures back in and put it back together. Worked nearly as good as it did before, but I didn't cut anything. After lunch I went back out to trim those branches. No go, it is now in a plastic bag, biggest piece is about 7" long. Cut it up on the band saw and will reture it to Homedepot. Never again.................

Like many city homeowners with both tree lined streets and a small backyard garden it really isn't cost effective to hire a tree arborist to take down the occasional tree limb. Exacerbating matters is the fact climbing extension ladders and over-reaching is a guaranteed blueprint for disaster. I delayed this purchase until I completed my careful research and made the purchase after the recent storm and have NOT regretted this purchase. My wife's younger brother also happened to have this very same tree pruner and having borrowed his Fiskars pruner this "sealed the deal. This Fiskars tree pruner takes just seconds to use and adjusting the length is even easier. Envious neighbors have even requested I prune their trees each time I have it out. The only weak link to this 12-foot tree pruner is the plastic locking lever which tends to distort/stretch then eventually break to an otherwise perfect tool. Fiskars requires detailed documentation of ownership/sales receipt/ and a hardcopy picture of the broken part in order to get a warrantied replacement part. Home Depot, btw, has the cheapest price even with taxes compared to mail order...shipping on this extremely bulky item is very cost prohibitive. This is the nicest tree pruner presently out there....no doubt in my mind! Please consider doing away with the plastic tightening lever and instead replace it with both metal collar and metal latch and this tool will be bullet proof!

Very useful pruner. I've been in the gardening business for over 25 years and this has been the best pruner so far. The pros: the adjustable head; the length of extension; the ball at the end of the pole for those extra long reaches; the removable saw. Unfortunately, the cons: the saw supplied should be like the hand saws, the flat tipped saw doesn't cut into the wood very well, I changed to a pointed saw blade and works much faster; the clamp for the extension doesn't tighten enough, I had to trim some plastic off to allow the clamp to tighten more, still slips some. Hopefully, this helps Fiskars in their future models. Also, Fiskars has a great warranty. The customer service was very helpful and friendly.

I've had the Power Stroke expandable (which looks identical to the since to the Pruning Stik) March 2010 and have been very pleased with it. This year I called Fiskars looking for possible answers on why the jaws would not close all the way to cut. They didn't have any answers, but promptly sent out a complete new unit,. Now that's good customer service!

Bought it liked it but like everything these days it didn't last and broke within a year. Has a warranty so we shall see how that works

The first time I bought this product, about three years ago, I fell in love with it. Love the ratchet action and the nice saw that is included. The pole saw lasted about a year and a half. I was OK with that because it got a very good work out. The second one I purchased broke after about 8-10 months. Again, I used it often and decided for the work I got out of it, it was worth the 80-90 dollars. I waited a while, but eventually purchased a third. It broke the 4th time I used it. Something seemed to slip and the nylon strap that facilitates opening and closing the pruner would not retreat back into the housing. My intention was to take it back to the big box I bought it from, but I just got busy and foolishly let it slip by. Now we are in April and I bought my fourth stik saw from Fiskars. I have probably used it 10 times and yesterday the same exact thing happened with the nylon strap. This time I securely placed the receipt in my wallet "just in case". I like the product, but just wish it were built better. I love the ratchet effect, so I'll probably see if a better built one is available somewhere.

I just finished using this product for the third time to snip some fronds from a friends house. (It did perform beautifully snipping about fifty palm tree fronds/limbs easily, effortlessly on the first two uses.) The head of the snip just remained shut after snipping and would not retract. I pulled it open manually. I repeated the process. When I got home, I inspected the handle. The line had slightly twisted and had come out of its track. This is located in the mechanism that locks the extension. There is an end-knot of the line at the side of this locking device. There is a slight bulge in the track which, I believe, caused the de-tracking of the line. I just inspected this area again, and I pulled the knot out about two inches. And I have activated the snipper about 15 times without incident. I'll just monitor its performance and keep records, reporting back as I need to. I have a Fiskars lopping tool that cuts limbs up to 1.5 inches; have had it for five years, and it would rate five stars easity!!! Tks for listening.

These pole cutters are temendous when new. Extend a long way and cut very well. Overtime however the traps develop slack that jams up the jaws and extension shaft and becomes unusable. I wish Fiskars had a service center to get the trimmers restrung or had a diagram of how the pieces go together so it could be taken apart and reassembled.

One of my best investments in a gardening tool. I owned this for over 10 years and used it very frequently. The saw is still sharp as I pruned many trees every year. I saw branches up to 4 inches in diameter. I also used the cutting head to prune branches up to whatever fitted into the jaw especially if I know the wood is a soft wood. Once in awhile, when I full extended the stick and saw very hard, the stick had come apart with the saw stuck on the branch that I was sawing. I considered it was wear and tear on the clamping mechanism. For the $70 that I paid for it, it is well worth every penny. Even though it is only is only 12 feet, it outperforms the two other 14 foot pole pruners that I bought for $40 each. I highly recommend this product.

    Krak06/10/2013

I hesitated before buying this as it seamed like it was double the price of others, but I wanted a long extension and this seamed to be the only reasonable choice. I used it for several years until all the plastic parts broke, unfortunately they do not seam to be durable. I do feel I got my moneys worth, and would still recommend it for light to medium duty use and as a good one in all tool for a homeowner, but not strong enough or works well enough for professional use. If you are hard on things I wouldn't recommend this tool, it can be a bit annoying as the parts can pull apart and then you have to take a time out and put them back together, just not a tool for hard use.

    William04/26/2013

I think this is a great tool. I've had it over 5 yrs and it works better than the pull-rope, sissor type pole trimmers. The pole adjust easily although it has been slipping lately.

    D03/11/2013

Agile tool to a point... Head broke after several months of use... Not very useful tool today, Just an expensive item in my garage.

    D.02/03/2013

I have both Pruning Stiks. Wonderful tools. Better living through design. Highly recommended. Light weight. Adjustable angle for cutting. Human arms extended option to increase pruning reach. Both hands on the Stick for better control. Ergonomic. The "flat rope" extends/retracts with the adjustment of the telescoping Stik Compared with the common pole pruner which is heavy, cumbersome, awkward: this is a joy to use. Decisions still have to be made if a saw cut is to be selected based on the size of the branch or its location. Neither a saw nor a pruner is easy to "help" when it is twelve feet from the ground. Thinking is encouraged.

    Michael01/19/2013

Sucks... doesn't cut doesn't extend and there are no instructions on the packaging on why or how.

    Ray01/11/2013

Great product. This is one of Fiskars better tools. Way better than the shear strap tree pruners. This tool does work and holds up. I've used it on about every thing including Citrus and Mesquite. You have to torque down the extension slide hold down considerably when using the saw or the shaft will slide if the saw binds up even a little bit, but other than that it has preformed very well.
